BRASSTOWN, N.C. — The John C. Campbell Folk School will host a lively evening of country, old-time, and rockabilly music on Monday, June 1, as the 1-Trick Pony String Band takes the stage in the Festival Barn at 7 p.m.

Known for blending two-stepping country, old-timey tonk, and rockabilly into a high-energy performance, the 1-Trick Pony String Band is a group of friends who share a passion for playing music together. Their unique fusion of styles promises to keep audiences entertained and “on the edge of their seat.”

The five-piece band features:

  • Chad Johnson on drums

  • Dave Wright on rhythm guitar

  • Karl Engelmann on upright bass

  • Ted Whisenhunt on mandolin, banjo, guitar, and harmonica

  • Lindsey Liden on resonator guitar, Telecaster, banjo, and fiddle

The Folk School’s concert series regularly showcases some of the finest regional and national acts performing eclectic roots music. Attendees can enjoy standard seating on a first-come, first-served basis or relax in the family-focused social area with picnic tables in the back. Guests are encouraged to bring dinner, card games, crafting projects, or let children play on the grass.

A suggested donation of $5–15 per adult helps support traditional arts programming and equitable pay for performers. Folk School students and staff are admitted without donation. All are welcome regardless of ability to contribute.

Note: Lineups, schedules, and venues are subject to change. For the most current information, visit folkschool.org/concerts.
