Andrews-area Resident Arrested for Conspiracy to Traffic Fentanyl

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division has been conducting a “months long” investigation into the distribution of fentanyl in the Andrews area of Cherokee County. As part of this investigation, two individuals were charged with trafficking fentanyl earlier in this month. During the follow-up investigation related to the charges on these two individuals, evidence was developed that indicated that Lanessa Shenee’ Stroud of Andrews had purchased fentanyl from them on numerous occasions with a purpose of resale.

On July 13, 2026, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, with assistance from the Criminal Investigations Division and Sheriff Chris Wood, executed a search warrant at the residence of Stroud. As a result of this search warrant, digital evidence and suspected contraband was seized.

Based on the totality of evidence obtained during this investigation, agents arrested and charged Lanessa Shenee’ Stroud with:

• Conspiracy to Traffic Fentanyl

Stroud is being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center without bond.

Sheriff Chris Wood stated, “It is somewhat easy to make an arrest of a single individual who is peddling poison in our communities. It is much harder to trace the threads that form the net that those addicted to illegal substances get caught in. This case is the result of many man-hours of intelligence gathering and analysis. Our office is dedicated to helping our community become healthy by eliminating the sources of the temptation that those who are addicted come face-to-face with each day.”

This investigation remains active. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
