Structure Fire Destroys Large Home on Grace Mountain Road in Union County

BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — A large home on Grace Mountain Road was completely destroyed by fire Tuesday afternoon, June 16, 2026. No injuries were reported.
Union County E911 received the call at approximately 4:30 p.m. reporting the structure fire. Firefighters from Union County Fire Department stations 1, 2, 3, 4, and 13 responded quickly, including both volunteer and career personnel.
Upon arrival, crews found the large home almost fully engulfed in flames. Occupants had safely evacuated the residence before firefighters arrived. A defensive attack was initiated on the fire, which had spread to the house and several vehicles on the property. Despite the efforts of responding crews, the home was declared a total loss.
Thankfully, there were no injuries or fatalities. The cause of the fire has not been officially determined at this time, and an investigation is ongoing.
Union County Fire & Rescue officials continue to remind residents of the importance of working smoke detectors, clear escape routes, and having a family fire escape plan. In the event of a fire, get out, stay out, and call 911.
This incident serves as a sobering reminder of how quickly fire can spread in our mountain communities. Residents are encouraged to check their homes for potential fire hazards, especially as summer weather and outdoor activities increase.
