ANDREWS, N.C. — Hayesville’s strong finish carried the Lady Yellow Jackets past Andrews 3–1 on Tuesday night in a Smoky Mountain Conference volleyball matchup.
After dropping the opening set 25–20, Hayesville regrouped to take the next three by scores of 25–23, 25–15 and 25–13. The win improved the Lady Yellow Jackets to 22–3 overall and 9–2 in conference play as they enter the final week of the regular season.
Andrews fell to 10–11 overall and 4–8 in the Smoky Mountain Conference despite taking the early lead. The Lady Wildcats opened strong but couldn’t maintain momentum as Hayesville’s attack settled in and controlled the final three sets.
Hayesville has been one of the conference’s top programs this season, holding an .880 winning percentage and an 11–1 road record. Andrews, now 3–6 at home, will look to regroup as postseason play approaches.
The Lady Yellow Jackets continue their push toward the conference’s top spot later this week as regular-season play wraps up with a home match against Murphy on Thursday, Oct. 9.
