The celebration didn’t end there.

Family members, classmates, coaches, and community supporters lined up to give the state champion a hero’s welcome, applauding his achievement and recognizing the hard work that led to the historic title.

The championship win represents not only a personal accomplishment for Martinez, but also a landmark achievement for Hayesville athletics. Coaches and supporters praised his dedication, discipline, and perseverance throughout the season, noting that his success has helped raise the profile of wrestling at the school.

As the first Yellow Jacket wrestler to reach the top of the state podium, Martinez’s name now holds a permanent place in Hayesville High School sports history — and his championship run is expected to inspire future wrestlers for years to come.
