ANDREWS, N.C. — Andrews High School's soccer team secured a decisive 3-1 win against the Swain County Maroon Devils on Wednesday, marking their first victory on Swain County's home field since October 12, 2017.
The match, played on September 10 saw Andrews shake off a recent loss on Monday to improve their season record to 1-2. Swain County, struggling to find their footing, fell to 1-5 after the defeat.
Historically, Andrews has faced challenges against Swain County, with recent matches including a 1-2 loss at home and a 0-4 shutout away in 2024, alongside a 1-5 loss in 2023. However, Andrews showed resilience, building on their 4-3 home win against Swain County on September 11, 2023.
Looking ahead, Andrews will face another conference rival, Highlands, at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
