MURPHY, N.C. — The Murphy Bulldogs rebounded from a previous loss to Heard County with a dominant 42-6 win over the East Surry Cardinals on Friday night, Sept. 5, extending their home winning streak to nine games.
The Bulldogs (2-1) took control early, leading 28-0 at halftime, effectively deciding the game. Their offense continued its strong performance, averaging 39.3 points per game during the home streak that began last season.
East Surry (0-3) struggled throughout, marking their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. The Cardinals could not keep pace with Murphy’s aggressive play, scoring only six points.
Both teams will travel for their next games. Murphy will face A.C. Reynolds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12 while East Surry takes on Walkertown at 7:00 p.m. The Cardinals face a challenge, as Walkertown has scored at least 31 points in every game this season.
