High School Basketball Roundup — Tuesday, Jan. 20


Cherokee swept a road doubleheader Tuesday night, rolling past Andrews in Western North Carolina conference play. The Cherokee girls dominated from the opening tip, cruising to a 94–25 victory, while the Cherokee boys followed with a 73–47 win over the Wildcats.


At Murphy, Hayesville split its trip against the Bulldogs. The Hayesville girls pulled out a 37–25 win in a defensive battle, but the Murphy boys responded with an 82–48 victory to earn the split.


Hiwassee Dam completed a sweep on the road at Blue Ridge Early College in Cashiers. The Eagles’ girls defeated the Yellow Jackets 81–53, and the boys followed with a 73–33 win.


In Georgia, the Towns County Lady Indians earned a decisive home victory on the girls’ side, defeating Lake Oconee Academy 61–25 in Hiawassee. No boy's score was reported at press time.


Union County picked up a pair of road wins at Coahulla Creek in Dalton. The Lady Panthers defeated Coahulla Creek 61–42, while the Union County boys edged the Colts 56–52 in a tightly contested game.
