The Murphy Bulldogs saw their impressive 2025 soccer season come to an end Monday night, falling 3-0 to Gray Stone Day in state playoff action.

The two teams battled closely through the first half, but the Knights took control after the break to seal the win. Despite the final score, Murphy showed the same grit and teamwork that carried them through a standout season.

The loss snapped a four-match winning streak for the Bulldogs, who finished the year with a strong 15-4-1 record and a Smoky Mountain Conference championship to their name.

In their final stretch of the season, Murphy notched victories over Queen’s Grant (5-2), Hayesville (2-0), Blue Ridge Early College (2-1), and Summit Charter (3-0) before running into the red-hot Gray Stone Day squad. The Knights have now won nine of their last ten games to improve to 14-3-4 on the year.

While the playoff exit stings, the Bulldogs can look back with pride on a season defined by consistency, teamwork, and championship success — all signs that Murphy soccer remains a force to be reckoned with.
