Cherokee Girls, Robbinsville Boys Top Hiwassee Dam Eagles Meet

HIWASSEE DAM, N.C — Cherokee swept the top five spots to claim the girls' team title, while Robbinsville edged Hiwassee Dam for the boys' crown at the Hiwassee Dam Eagles Meet on Wednesday at McNabb Farm.

In the girls' 5K, Cherokee's Dvdaya Swimmer took first in 20:16.48, followed by teammate Livia Crowe in second at 21:01.31. The Cherokee squad posted a team score of 15 points with a total time of 1:51:06.92 and an average of 22:13.39.


Hiwassee Dam and Towns County tied for second in the girls' team standings with 70 points each, ahead of Summit Charter's 79. Hiwassee Dam's total time was 2:35:31.54 with an average of 31:06.31, while Towns County's was 2:27:16.19 with an average of 29:27.24. Summit Charter finished with a total time of 2:31:30.12 and an average of 30:18.03.


On the boys' side, Hiwassee Dam's Oscar Page won individual honors in 16:43.81, but Robbinsville claimed the team victory with 27 points and a total time of 1:33:05.72 for an average of 18:37.15. Hiwassee Dam placed second with 38 points, a total time of 1:36:57.11 and an average of 19:23.43. Murphy was third with 83 points and a total time of 1:50:32.06 for an average of 22:06.42, followed by Cherokee at 91 and Summit Charter at 96.


Robbinsville's Benjamin Frederick finished second in the boys' race at 17:19.35, with teammate Nathan Fredrick third in 17:48.75.


Hiwassee Dam runners in the girls' race included Leah Taylor, who placed 12th in 27:12.15; Brooklyn Hyde, 13th in 27:44.73; Avery Freemon, 16th in 27:53.29; Kaitlyn Lecoq, 25th in 30:56.16; and Ashlin Anderson, 32nd in 41:45.21.


Murphy's girls were led by Emory Ricks in 14th at 27:46.47, followed by Hadley Rider in 18th at 28:17.55 and Anna Leatherwood in 20th at 28:20.29.


Towns County's girls featured Emberlynn Williams in eighth at 25:09.08, Joyce Hou in 17th at 28:05.88, Mary Durham in 19th at 28:19.14, Maelei Johnstone in 24th at 30:47.79 and Jamie McCarter in 31st at 34:54.30.

In the boys' race, Hiwassee Dam's contingent was paced by Page in first, with Maverick Hawley fourth in 18:07.57, Xavier Johnson eighth in 19:41.46, Travis Allen 12th in 21:03.25, Jonah Dockery 14th in 21:21.02, Brayden Morrow 21st in 22:44.77, Avery Taylor 30th in 25:22.44, Brandon Bishop 33rd in 25:38.09 and Brock Hyde 36th in 27:12.49.


Murphy boys included Braden Edwards in sixth at 18:44.20, josiah niblea in 15th at 21:39.33, Cruz Yarbro in 22nd at 23:17.37, David Hickey in 23rd at 23:20.06 and Reyden Galarza in 24th at 23:31.10.


Towns County boys were led by Jason Chavero in 13th at 21:14.36, followed by Emory Hardin in 27th at 23:47.32, Will Walls in 34th at 26:06.30 and Christopher Houser in 40th at 30:36.00.
