Clay County School Board Honors Student-Athletes at December Meeting

The Clay County Schools Board of Education took time during its meeting Monday, December 15, to recognize outstanding student-athletes from Hayesville High School for their achievements during the fall sports season.


Board members honored members of the Hayesville High School Men’s Varsity Soccer Team who earned Smoky Mountain Conference accolades. Recognized were Hayden Hunt and Raul Rivera-Prieto, both named to the Smoky Mountain Conference All-Conference team, and Jackson Dye, who received All-Conference Honorable Mention honors.


The board also recognized the HHS Varsity Volleyball Team for earning both Smoky Mountain Conference and Western Regional honors, highlighting a successful and competitive season for the program.

Individual volleyball players recognized included Savannah Burch, who was named Smoky Mountain Conference Specialist of the Year and earned NC Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region 8 honors. Ava Shook and Graesyn Williamson were each recognized as Smoky Mountain Conference All-Conference selections and were also named to the NC Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region 8 team. Olivia Giddens earned Smoky Mountain Conference All-Conference honors, while Aaliyah Jackson and Reese Segars were each recognized with All-Conference Honorable Mention honors.


Board members congratulated the student-athletes for their dedication, teamwork, and representation of Clay County Schools both on and off the court and field. The recognitions served as a celebration of the students’ hard work and the continued success of Hayesville High School athletic programs.
