Hayesville, N.C. — The Hayesville Lady Yellow Jackets saw their season come to an end Tuesday night, Oct. 20, falling 3-0 to Cornerstone Charter Academy in Greensboro in the second round of the NCHSAA 2A West state championship tournament.

No. 4 seed Cornerstone Charter (24-6), which had a first-round bye, swept No. 13 seed Hayesville to advance to Thursday's regional quarterfinal.

Hayesville reached the second round with a 3-0 sweep of East Wilkes on Saturday at The Hive, but the Lady Jackets could not carry that momentum on the road against one of the bracket's top seeds.

The loss closes Hayesville's season with a final overall record of 16-11.

Cornerstone Charter moves on to host No. 5 seed Murphy in Thursday's regional quarterfinal. Murphy defeated South Stanly 3-1 on Tuesday night.
