MURPHY, N.C. — The Murphy Bulldogs suffered a 3-0 loss to the Swain County Maroon Devils in a high school volleyball match on Thursday, marking their fourth consecutive defeat against the Maroon Devils, according to Team Reports.


Despite coming off a strong 3-0 victory over Hiwassee Dam on Tuesday, the Bulldogs struggled to maintain momentum. The Maroon Devils secured the win with set scores of 25-17, 25-14, and a tightly contested 26-24 in the third set, showcasing Murphy’s resilience despite the loss.


The defeat dropped Murphy’s record to 5-4, while Swain County improved to a winning record of 6-5.


Looking ahead, the Bulldogs will host Hayesville at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, aiming to rebound from Thursday’s loss. Meanwhile, Swain County will travel to take on Smoky Mountain at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept.15.
