Hayesville Advances to SMC Championship with Sweep of Swain County

HAYESVILLE, N.C.— The Hayesville Yellow Jackets kept their winning streak alive Tuesday night, defeating Swain County 3-0 in the Smoky Mountain Conference volleyball tournament at Hayesville High School.
The victory marked Hayesville’s 11th straight win and their third sweep of the Maroon Devils this season.
Despite the 3-0 result, the match was tightly contested, with the Jackets having to dig deep to close out each set. Hayesville took the first 25-21 before edging Swain County 27-25 and 26-24 in back-to-back extra rallies.
With the win, Hayesville improved to 25-3 on the season, while Swain County fell to 12-10.
Hayesville will move on to face Cherokee in the conference championship at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15. The matchup will give the Jackets a chance to avenge two earlier losses to the Braves this season.
