Hayesville High School Teacher Honored with NCCAT Scholarship

HAYESVILLE, N.C. — Amanda Coker, a science teacher at Hayesville High School, was recognized by the Clay County Schools Board of Education on Monday, July 28, for receiving the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) Honored Educator Scholarship. The award was presented by NCCAT Executive Director Dr. M. Brock Womble.


The NCCAT Honored Educator Scholarship program covers all costs associated with a teacher’s participation in an NCCAT seminar, including program materials, instruction, food, lodging, transportation, and substitute teacher expenses. Recipients also receive a $250 award for classroom use. The scholarship honors outstanding educators who have made a significant impact in public education.


Coker was celebrated for her dedication to teaching and her contributions to the Clay County school community. The scholarship will allow her to attend a professional development seminar of her choice, enhancing her skills and bringing new resources to her classroom.


The Clay County Schools Board of Education commended Coker for her achievement, noting her commitment to fostering student success in science education.
