Hayesville JV Sweeps Swain in Straight Sets in SMC Opener

HAYESVILLE, N.C. — The Hayesville High School junior varsity volleyball team swept Swain in straight sets, winning 25-16 and 25-13.

The Lady Jackets controlled the match with steady serving, strong defensive coverage and an organized transition offense. After Swain pulled even midway through the opening set, Hayesville remained composed and closed the set with an impressive run. The team carried that momentum into the second set, building an early lead and pulling away to finish the sweep by a wider margin.

Harper Ledford directed the offense and contributed several key defensive plays. Kaitlyn Cantafio handled a significant share of the serve-receive and back-row responsibilities. Candace King provided a strong attacking presence at the net, while Maci Cabe delivered important kills in the second set. Emily Dowling, Brooklyn Smith and Kara Bauer added valuable passing, defensive touches and front-row play.

Bella Byers, Bella Costa and Kaybree Fleming provided additional depth in the serving and defensive rotations.

Communication, hustle and the ability to keep rallies alive were major strengths for Hayesville throughout the match. The victory showed continued growth from the young team.
