HAYESVILLE, N.C. — The Andrews Lady Wildcats and Hiwassee Dam Lady Eagles are set to represent the far western mountains in the opening round of the NCHSAA 1A state volleyball tournament.
Andrews (No. 8 seed) earned a first-round bye and will advance automatically to the second round. The Lady Wildcats will face the winner of the match between No. 9 NCSSM-Morganton and No. 24 Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy. That matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18.
Meanwhile, Hiwassee Dam (No. 16 seed) will host No. 17 North Stokes in a first-round contest on Saturday. The Lady Eagles, who have battled through the tough Little Smoky Mountain Conference schedule, will look to use home-court advantage to move on in the tournament.
Both teams have proven resilient throughout the season, with Andrews’ strong defense and Hiwassee Dam’s balanced attack setting the tone for their postseason push.
