HAYESVILLE — Hayesville extended its losing streak to five games on Tuesday, falling 12-1 to Hiwassee Dam and dropping to 1-9 on the season.
The loss also marked a repeat setback against the Eagles, as the Lady Yellow Jackets were unable to avenge a defeat from their previous meeting in March 2025.
Hiwassee Dam improved to 4-6 with the win, which stands as the team’s most dominant victory of the season.
Abby Harris played a key role in the Eagles’ performance on both sides of the ball. In the circle, she pitched three innings, allowing just one earned run on one hit. At the plate, Harris went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
The Eagles also got a strong showing from Brinkley Payne, who finished 1-for-2 with two runs, a triple, and an RBI. Leah Taylor added to the effort, recording her first RBI of the season.
Hayesville will look to regroup quickly, as the Lady Yellow Jackets are scheduled to face Smoky Mountain at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Hiwassee Dam will be watching that matchup closely. Following Hayesville’s game against the Mustangs, the Eagles are set to meet the Lady Yellow Jackets again at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
