Hiwassee Dam Sweeps Blue Ridge Early College

CASHIERS, N.C. — Hiwassee Dam High School's varsity volleyball team defeated Blue Ridge Early College 3-0 on Tuesday, Sept. 16, in Cashiers.


The visiting Eagles from Murphy dominated the Bobcats, securing a straight-set victory. Hiwassee Dam, ranked 554 in North Carolina and 37 in its class, improved its season record to 2-12 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The team has struggled on the road with a 1-9 away record but showcased its strength in this matchup, adding to its season total of 14 sets won against 35 lost.


Blue Ridge Early College, ranked 564 in the state and 42 in its class, fell to 2-10 overall and 0-2 in conference matches. The Bobcats, hosting the game, now hold a 1-4 home record and a 1-6 away record. Their season statistics reflect a challenging year, with 7 sets won and 32 lost.


The loss adds to Blue Ridge Early College’s difficulties this season, while Hiwassee Dam’s win provides a boost as they continue their campaign on the road Thursday, Sept. 18 against Highlands.
