Jackets Close Season Friday at Winless Andrews

Hayesville football closes its season Friday, Oct. 30, at Andrews at 7:30 p.m., with both teams hunting their first Smoky Mountain Conference win of the year.

The Yellow Jackets (1-7, 0-5 Smoky Mountain Conference) ride a five-game losing streak into the finale after last Friday's 42-12 loss to Murphy. Hayesville has scored 80 points this season while allowing 344.

Andrews (0-8, 0-5) sits one spot below Hayesville in the conference standings and is still looking for its first win.

The Wildcats' ground game runs through seniors Brady McLelland and Kelby Waldroup, who have combined for 730 rushing yards and nine touchdowns — every rushing score Andrews has this season. The Wildcats have allowed 359 points.

The winner avoids a last-place finish in the conference. Kickoff weather in Andrews looks good: mostly cloudy, dry, with temperatures falling into the upper 40s by game's end.
