John C. Campbell Folk School Hosts Week of Community Events

BRASSTOWN, N.C. — The John C. Campbell Folk School is set to host a vibrant week of community events from Aug. 4 to Aug. 10, featuring music, dance, and local crafts, according to a recent social media post by the organization.
The week kicks off on Monday, Aug. 4, with a Dinner & Show at 6:15 p.m., featuring The Ark Caribbean Food Truck, followed by a performance by Lone Piñon, a New Mexico folk band, at 7 p.m. On Tuesday, Aug. 5, the school offers Community Yoga at 4:45 p.m. and a special Baile Night with Lone Piñon, showcasing traditional New Mexico dances, from 7 to 8 p.m.
Wednesday, Aug. 6, begins with Morningsong featuring Rob Tiger at 7:45 a.m., followed by the Brasstown Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Thursday, Aug. 7, attendees can participate in Tai Chi Cung at 4:45 p.m. and join a Community Jam at The Crown with Mick Kinney, focusing on old-time music, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 8, features another Morningsong with Mick Kinney at 7:45 a.m., followed by an Art Market & Craft Social from 7 to 9 p.m. The week’s highlight is a Community Dance in Davidson Hall on Saturday, Aug. 9, from 7 to 10 p.m., with music by Mick and Evan Kinney, Max and Maggie Godfrey, and callers T-Claw and Corinne Wilkinson. The week concludes on Sunday, Aug. 10, with Sunday Afternoon Tunes from 2 to 5 p.m.
