MURPHY, N.C. — The Murphy Lady Bulldogs varsity volleyball team secured a decisive 3-0 victory over the Rosman Tigers in a Smoky Mountain Conference match on Tuesday, September 23 at Rosman High School. The match showcased Murphy’s dominance as they improved their season record to 6-7 overall and 4-6 in conference play.

The Lady Bulldogs controlled the match from start to finish, winning all three sets against a Rosman squad that struggled to find its rhythm. With this win, Murphy solidified their standing in the North Carolina Class 1A rankings, holding steady at No. 30, while Rosman, ranked No. 21 in their class, fell to 5-8 overall and 3-5 in conference action.

Despite a challenging season, the Lady Bulldogs have shown resilience, splitting their home and away games with a 3-3 record on the road and a 3-4 mark at home. Their conference win percentage now stands at .400, reflecting a competitive edge in league play.

Rosman, meanwhile, faced difficulties in their home gym, dropping to a 3-3 home record. The Tigers, who have won 17 sets this season, were unable to counter Murphy’s momentum, adding to their total of 28 sets lost.

The victory provides a boost for Murphy as they continue to navigate a tough season and host Robbinsville on Thursday, Sept. 25.
