MURPHY, N.C. — The Hiwassee Dam varsity volleyball team fell short in a hard-fought non-conference match against Andrews on Thursday, September 25, 2025, losing 3-2 at home. The match, which started at 6 p.m., showcased a competitive battle between the two North Carolina squads.

Andrews (9-8 overall, 4-6 conference) secured the victory with set scores of 23-25, 25-20, 25-27, 25-16, and 15-9. Hiwassee Dam (3-14 overall, 3-0 conference) took the first and third sets but couldn’t maintain momentum in the decisive fifth set.

Despite the loss, Hiwassee Dam showed resilience, particularly in the tightly contested third set, which they won 27-25. Andrews leaned on their balanced attack to overcome the Lady Eagles.

With a home record of 1-5 and an away record of 6-4, Andrews improved their overall win percentage to .529. Hiwassee Dam, meanwhile, continues to search for consistency, holding a .176 win percentage despite an undefeated 1.000 mark in conference play.

The Lady Eagles now turn their attention to Fannin County (GA) for a home match on Monday, Sept. 29.
