It was a tough night for the Hiwassee Dam Lady Eagles on Thursday, Sept. 4 as they travelled to Cherokee. The home team is not only one of the toughest teams in the Big Smoky Mountain Conference, but the Lady Braves are ranked 16th overall in North Carolina's 2A division. The Lady Eagles could never snag momentum and fell 3-0.
With the loss, Hiwassee Dam falls to 0-8. There have been flashes of promise that the record doesn't show. The Lady Eagles forced a fifth set against Swain, Murphy, Rosman and Copper Basin. A few well-placed balls and blocks and Hiwassee Dam could easily be 4-4.
The Lady Eagles will try to use that as inspiration when they travel across Cherokee County on Monday, Sept. 8 to battle Andrews.
