Lady Panthers Shine at Regional Cross Country Meet

BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — Union County High School's girls cross country team delivered a strong performance at a regional meet, with several runners placing well in a field of over 180 athletes from various schools.
Lola Hunter led Union County with a 10th-place finish, clocking 20:39.80 and earning 10 points. Macy Payne followed with a time of 23:16.10, securing 48th place and 48 points. Avery Hussion finished in 24:04.80, taking 64th place and 61 points.
Other Union County runners included Averie Tanner (25:51.00, 105th place, 95 points), Grace Wright (26:01.30, 110th place, 98 points), Kate Barrett (26:43.90, 119th place, 105 points), Neva Brott (26:57.70, 126th place, 110 points), Kate Hoffman (27:25.80, 132nd place), Ava Irvin (27:34.50, 134th place), and Jolie Schmitt (28:16.80, 145th place).
The 5K race saw North Hall dominate, with Summer Muxlow (19:18.20), Ealyn Kennedy (19:47.20), and Camille Nix (20:02.30) taking the top three spots. Union County’s team showed depth and consistency, with multiple runners finishing in the top half of the field.
Next up for the Lady Panthers is the Southern Traditions Jamboree scheduled for Sept. 11 in Tallulah Falls.
