Lady Wildcats Advance to Final Four, Set for SMC Showdown with Robbinsville

The Lady Wildcats of Andrews High School are headed to the state’s final four after holding off Summit Charter Academy 46-42 in the N.C. 1A girls basketball playoffs.

Andrews used a balanced effort and timely defense down the stretch to secure the four-point win, punching its ticket to the semifinal round of the N.C. 1A state championship tournament. The Lady Wildcats withstood a late push from Summit Charter, protecting a narrow lead in the final minutes to preserve the victory.

With the win, Andrews advances to face Robbinsville High School in an all-Smoky Mountain Conference regional final. The matchup guarantees a conference team will compete for a state championship berth.

The semifinal game is scheduled for Thursday, March 5, at 3 p.m. at Lenoir-Rhyne University.

The meeting adds another chapter to a familiar rivalry, as the two conference foes battle with a trip to the state championship game on the line. Andrews won both meetings between the teams in the regular season.
