BREVARD, N.C. | The Young Harris College men's and women's cross country teams competed Friday (Sept. 19) evening at the 19th Brevard XC Classic in Brevard, North Carolina.
Men's Results (8K):
Young Harris placed 9th out of 15 teams
Nathaniel Harris (Fr.) finished in 14th place with a time of 28:04.21
Sam Lindley (Fr.) finished in 22nd place with a time of 28:24.10
Timothy Wilder (Fr.) finished in 55th place with a time of 29:47.72
Preston Morris (Fr.) finished in 58th place with a time of 29:49.81
Christopher Le (Fr.) finished in 74th place with a time of 30:35.42
Jack Holcomb (Jr.) finished in 76th place with a time of 30:44.05
Brennan Mullis (Fr.) finished in 85th place with a time of 31:08.31
Quote from Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Matt Logan: "We wanted to give the men who didn't compete at the Southern Showcase a chance to run a fast 8K. We had some solid performances and the fact that we were so competitive as a team speaks to our depth on the men's side."
Women's Results (5K):
Young Harris placed 14th out of 14 teams
Julia Hargrove (So.) finished in 63rd place with a time of 22:34.19
Chesney Johnson (So.) finished in 73rd place with a time of 22:59.91
Caitlyn Thaman (Fr.) finished in 74th place with a time of 23:03.27
Piper Marsingill (Fr.) finished in 77th place with a time of 23:06.01
Emma Anderson (So.) finished in 84th place with a time of 23:43.91
Cadence McClung (So.) finished in 88th place with a time of 24:13.68
Ashley Mendoza (So.) finished in 96th place with a time of 25:46.97
Quote from Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Matt Logan: "Most of these women were either coming off injury or are middle distance ladies who were competing just for some extra work. Julia is working her way back after being our number 1 runner last year. I expect her to keep improving. I also thought Thaman competed hard and I think she has a really bright future."
