Murphy Bulldogs Fall to A.C. Reynolds, 34-14, Despite Early Lead

MURPHY, N.C. — The Murphy Bulldogs started strong but couldn’t hold off the A.C. Reynolds Rockets, falling 34-14 in a highly anticipated football matchup on Friday night. The loss dropped Murphy’s record to 2-2, while A.C. Reynolds evened their record at 2-2 with the victory.
The Bulldogs came out firing, jumping to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. However, A.C. Reynolds battled back, taking control after halftime and outscoring Murphy to secure the 20-point win.
Both teams now look ahead to favorable matchups, according to MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Murphy, ranked 86th, will face Cherokee (271st) on Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Bulldogs' first Smoky Mountain Conference game of the season.
