HAYESVILLE, N.C. — The Murphy Lady Bulldogs saw their Smoky Mountain Conference tournament run come to an early end Monday night, falling 3-0 to Swain County in round one of the postseason at Hayesville High School.
The Lady Maroon Devils controlled the match from start to finish, using consistent serving and strong net play to keep Murphy from finding its rhythm. The Lady Bulldogs were unable to overcome Swain’s momentum.
With the loss, Murphy now shifts its focus to the upcoming North Carolina state tournament. The Lady Bulldogs will await official seeding and scheduling announcements later this week.
The match concluded Murphy’s conference play, marking the team’s final appearance in SMC competition this season before the state playoffs begin.
