MURPHY, N.C. — The town of Murphy is gearing up for a family-friendly Halloween kickoff with a free outdoor movie night featuring a kids' costume contest.

Organized by Downtown Murphy and the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, the "Halloween BOO-vie Night" will take place Saturday, Oct. 25, at Konehete Veterans Park. The event runs for three hours, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Attendees are invited to bring chairs, blankets and pillows to settle in on the grass for a screening of the animated film "Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation." The movie aims to set a spooky yet fun tone for the holiday season.

Kicking off the evening will be a costume contest for children, with prizes awarded for the best outfits in each age group. Food and drinks will be available for purchase on site.

The public event is open to all. For more details, contact the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce.
