HIAWASSEE, Ga. — The Rabun County Wildcats snapped a Towns County winning streak against them, securing a 19-9 victory over the Indians in a high-scoring softball matchup on Wednesday, September 10.
The loss ended Towns County's dominance in the rivalry, which had seen the Indians win every encounter since August 21, 2023. Despite a strong 17-0 performance against Tallulah Falls on Monday, Towns County struggled to keep pace with Rabun County's offensive output, dropping their season record to 2-6.
Rabun County, improving to 6-11, celebrated their third consecutive road win. The Wildcats' bats came alive, overpowering the Indians' defense in a game that showcased their offensive depth.
Both teams are set to hit the road for their next games on Thursday, September 11. Towns County will take on Lincoln County at 5:30 p.m., while Rabun County faces a tough test against Oglethorpe County at the same time. The Wildcats will need to bring their A-game, as Oglethorpe’s pitching staff has been stingy, allowing just 4.1 runs per game this season.
