HAYESVILLE, N.C. — Hayesville High School rising senior Reese Segars has verbally committed to continue her volleyball career at Truett McConnell University beginning in the fall of 2027.

Volleyball has been a central part of Segars’ life for years, from youth leagues and travel ball to competing for the Yellow Jackets in The Hive. Her dedication has now opened the door to the next level.
“I am beyond excited and incredibly grateful to announce that I am verbally committed to Truett McConnell University,” Segars said. “First, I want to thank God. None of this would have been possible without Him. I’m so grateful for His guidance and for opening so many doors for me.
In a social media post, Segars thanked her parents for always supporting her and all of the teammates she's had over the years and of course the coaches who have helped her become a better player.
When addressing her next step, Segars said, “I would also like to thank Coach Joe and Coach Morgan for giving me the opportunity to continue my academic and athletic career at Truett McConnell. I am so excited to be a part of the TMU volleyball family.”
Hayesville head coach Tammy Dills praised Segars’ work ethic, saying, “I’m proud of how she has dedicated her younger years, the off-season and summer each and every year to getting her game where it is today,” Dills said. “I feel TMU will be a good fit for her. I’m excited to have her return for the 2026 season as a Lady Yellow Jacket and then on to TMU next summer. She has worked hard to get here and she is reaping the benefits and realized dreams.”
Segars and her Lady Jacket teammates will start their 2026 campaign at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11 when the team hosts Smoky Mountain High school.
