The Andrews Wildcats saw their postseason journey come to an end Friday night, falling 56–7 to the Robbinsville Black Knights in the second round of the NCHSAA playoffs at Robbinsville High School.
The Wildcats entered the matchup hoping to build on the momentum of last week’s playoff victory, a bright spot in a season marked by challenges. However, Robbinsville proved to be too much from the opening whistle. The Black Knights controlled the game on both sides of the ball, showcasing the talent and execution that have fueled their strong playoff push.
The loss continued a difficult streak for Andrews, who has now come up short in their last four meetings with Robbinsville. With the defeat, the Wildcats closed their season at 2–10 — a year that included just one regular-season win before their playoff breakthrough.
While the scoreboard didn’t swing in their favor Friday night, Andrews showed determination throughout a season that tested the team’s resilience. The younger roster gained valuable experience, and the playoff victory stands as a reminder that progress often comes in steps.
Robbinsville, now 8–3 on the year, celebrated their fifth straight home win and will continue their postseason campaign in front of their home crowd once again. The Black Knights are set to host East Columbus next Friday at 7 p.m., with a spot in the next round of the NCHSAA tournament on the line.
For Andrews, the season has officially wrapped, but the team will look to use the hard-earned lessons of 2025 as building blocks for the future.
