Stripers No-Hit in Rain-Shortened 4-0 Loss to Jacksonville

LAWRENCEVILLE, Georgia – Jacksonville’s Jace Beck threw a rain-shortened 5.0-inning no-hitter on Sunday evening at Gwinnett Field, leading the Jumbo Shrimp (15-23, 57-55) past the Gwinnett Stripers (20-19, 58-55) 4-0. The Stripers settled for a split of the six-game series.

Decisive Plays:  Jacksonville got on the board early with a first-inning solo homer by Deyvison De Los Santos (14). In the third, the Jumbo Shrimp added another courtesy of a bases-loaded walk to make it 2-0. A Maximo Acosta solo homer (2) made it 3-0 in the fourth inning. A Gwinnett error pushed the lead to 4-0 in the fifth inning. Following the end of the fifth, the game was called due to inclement weather.

Key Contributors: Beck (W, 1-1) tossed 5.0 innings (0 H, 0 R, 0 BB,5 SO) of no-hit ball. De Los Santos (3-for-3, homer, RBI) had a perfect day at the plate. Cedric De Grandpre (L, 0-1) went 3.0 innings (2 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 1 SO) for the Stripers.

Noteworthy:  The Stripers were no-hit by Jacksonville for the second time this season, first since Braxton Garrett went 8.0 no-hit innings in a game Gwinnett won 2-0 on April 21. The Stripers are now 4-14 on Sundays this season.
