ASHEVILLE, N.C. — The Asheville Blues delivered a commanding performance, shutting out the Hayesville Yellow Jackets 41-0 in a high school football game on Friday, Aug. 22, at Asheville High School.

The Blues wasted no time asserting their dominance, scoring a 38-yard touchdown just one minute into the first quarter. The extra point was good, giving Asheville a 7-0 lead. Hayesville’s first possession ended in a fumble, which Asheville quickly capitalized on with a 29-yard touchdown run, extending their lead to 14-0 with 6:29 remaining in the first. The Blues continued their offensive onslaught, finding the end zone again with 1:24 left in the quarter, pushing the score to 21-0 after a successful PAT.

Asheville’s momentum carried into the second quarter, with a 1-yard touchdown plunge at the 11:33 mark, followed by another successful extra point, making it 28-0. The Blues added a 48-yard touchdown with 8:08 left in the half, and the PAT stretched their lead to 35-0 at halftime.

Hayesville’s offense, aided by a running clock, controlled the ball for the entire third quarter but failed to score. Asheville sealed the victory with one final touchdown in the fourth quarter, concluding the game at 41-0.

The Blues’ relentless offense and stout defense overwhelmed the Yellow Jackets, who struggled to find their rhythm. Asheville’s early scoring spree and ability to capitalize on Hayesville’s mistakes proved decisive in the shutout.

The Jackets will look to rebound at home on Friday, Aug.29 when they host Enka.
