BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — The Union County Lady Panthers volleyball team experienced a rollercoaster of emotions on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, splitting their two matches in a tri-match against Dawson County and Winder-Barrow.

In their first match of the day, the Lady Panthers (10-5) edged out a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Dawson County Tigers (10-10) in a nail-biting contest. Despite dropping the first set 21-25, Union County rallied back, dominating the next two sets 25-17 and 15-7 to secure their fifth consecutive win. The comeback showcased the team's resilience and ability to adapt under pressure.

However, the Lady Panthers' winning streak came to an end later that evening when they faced the Winder-Barrow Bulldogs (14-9). Union County fell 2-0 in a swift defeat, dropping their record to 10-5.

The Lady Panthers have been a strong force this season, with notable recent victories, including a 3-0 sweep over Fannin County on Sept. 2, and 2-0 wins against Flowery Branch and Stephens County on Aug. 26. Their ability to bounce back after early setbacks, as seen in the Dawson County match, highlights their competitive edge.

Looking ahead, Union County will hit the road to face Sonoraville at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
