BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — The Union County Lady Panthers varsity volleyball team had a mixed night on Tuesday, Sept. 9, splitting their two conference matches. They fell to Sonoraville 2-1 in a tightly contested home match in Calhoun, Ga., but rebounded with a decisive 2-0 victory over Rockmart in a neutral-site conference matchup.

In the first match, Union County faced a tough Sonoraville squad. The Lady Panthers took the opening set 25-23, showcasing strong serving and defensive play. However, Sonoraville battled back, winning the second set 25-20 and clinching the match with a 15-10 victory in the third set. The loss dropped Union County to a 1-2 set record against Sonoraville.

Later that evening, the Lady Panthers regrouped against Rockmart. Union County dominated from the start, cruising to a 25-7 win in the first set and sealing the match with a 25-18 victory in the second. The sweep highlighted the team's offensive firepower and ability to bounce back after a tough loss.

The split leaves Union County with valuable experience as they continue their region schedule. The Lady Panthers will look to build on their strong performance against Rockmart on Thursday, Sept. 11 when they host Rabun Gap-Nacoochee and Lumpkin County.
