BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — The Union County Panthers secured a 4-1 victory over the Murray County Indians in a high school softball matchup on Thursday, continuing their dominance in the rivalry. The win, which took place at Union County's home field, marked the sixth consecutive victory for the Panthers against the Indians, dating back to 2022.
The Panthers' latest triumph improved their season record to 8-5, showcasing their resilience in a competitive inter-region schedule. Meanwhile, the Indians suffered their second consecutive loss, dropping their record to 4-8.
Union County’s balanced attack and solid defense proved too much for Murray County, which struggled to generate offense. The Panthers have now won all five of their most recent games against the Indians, including a 5-4 road win and a 3-0 home shutout in 2024, as well as two neutral-site victories in 2022 by scores of 10-8 and 6-5.
On Monday at 5:30 p.m. Union County will travel to take on North Cobb Christian.
