Union County Volleyball Sweeps Flowery Branch, Gilmer

BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. — The Union County varsity volleyball team showcased their dominance on Thursday, securing decisive 2-0 victories in non-conference matches against Flowery Branch and Gilmer.

In the neutral-site match against Flowery Branch, Union County cruised to a 25-13, 25-7 win. The Panthers' relentless attack and stout defense left Flowery Branch struggling to keep pace, as Union County claimed both sets with ease.

Later that day, Union County continued their strong performance on the road against Gilmer in Ellijay. The Panthers overpowered the Bobcats 25-8, 25-15, maintaining control throughout the match to complete the sweep.

Despite their recent success, Union County faced challenges earlier in the season. On Aug. 19, the Panthers fell 2-0 to Rabun Gap-Nacoochee on the road and dropped another 2-0 decision to Tallulah Falls at home.

Thursday’s victories improve Union County’s record as they prepare for their next challenge. The team’s ability to bounce back from early-season setbacks highlights their potential as a formidable contender in the region.
