Yellow Jackets Return to the Win Column

Updated: Jan 6

Winning is always sweet, but doing so in record-setting fashion makes it even more memorable — just ask the Hayesville Yellow Jackets.

Hayesville turned in its highest-scoring performance of the season on Friday, Jan. 2, overwhelming Blue Ridge Early College 91-27 in a dominant varsity boys basketball victory. From the opening tip, the Yellow Jackets were in complete control, using relentless offense and stifling defense to put the game out of reach early.

The win continued a familiar trend for Hayesville, which has now recorded six victories by 20 points or more this season. The Yellow Jackets consistently pushed the tempo and shared the basketball, overwhelming the Bobcats at both ends of the floor.

Despite the lopsided final score, Blue Ridge Early College had a few bright spots. Evan Pressley led the Bobcats with 12 points, providing a steady offensive presence throughout the night. Kameron Kinsey also reached a personal milestone, recording his first assist of the season.

With the victory, Hayesville snapped a three-game losing streak and improved its overall record to 6-4. For Blue Ridge Early College, the loss marked its ninth consecutive road defeat dating back to last season, dropping the Bobcats to 2-5.

Friday’s result was also the latest chapter in a one-sided recent series between the two programs. Hayesville has now won five straight meetings against Blue Ridge Early College, including a 69-20 road win earlier this season and multiple decisive victories over the past two years.

The Jackets will now turn their attention to conference play as powerhouse Cherokee on the road Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 8:00 p.m.
