YHC Men's Soccer Opens 2025 Season with 2-2 Draw at Coker

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's soccer team kicked off their 2025 campaign with a 2-2 draw against Coker University on Sunday (Sept. 7) evening at the YHC Soccer & Lacrosse Field. The Mountain Lions battled through a physical 90 minutes, with both teams trading goals and cautions in a tightly contested matchup.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
Coker struck first in the 27th minute, as Alexis Abalam netted his first goal of the season to give the Cobras a 1-0 lead.
Young Harris responded just ten minutes later when Thomas Kleinpenning scored his first goal of the year in the 37th minute to level the match at 1-1.
In the second half, Kleinpenning found the back of the net again in the 57th minute, this time assisted by Leho Le Louarn, giving YHC a 2-1 advantage.
Coker equalized in the 76th minute with Abalam's second goal of the night, assisted by Christian Johnson.
Both teams recorded seven total shots, with YHC placing three on target and Coker placing six.
Goalkeeper James Dee played all 90 minutes for the Mountain Lions, recording four saves.
Young Harris earned four corner kicks, all in the first half, while Coker earned two in the second.
The match saw four yellow cards issued and one red card to Coker.
Kleinpenning led the Mountain Lions with two goals on two shots, while Le Louarn added an assist and one shot on goal.
Ignacio Arribere and Alfredo Guerra each recorded a shot, while Bjarne Renner added another from midfield.
