YHC Men's Soccer Opens 2025 Season with 2-2 Draw at Coker

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's soccer team kicked off their 2025 campaign with a 2-2 draw against Coker University on Sunday (Sept. 7) evening at the YHC Soccer & Lacrosse Field. The Mountain Lions battled through a physical 90 minutes, with both teams trading goals and cautions in a tightly contested matchup.


INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Coker struck first in the 27th minute, as Alexis Abalam netted his first goal of the season to give the Cobras a 1-0 lead.

  • Young Harris responded just ten minutes later when Thomas Kleinpenning scored his first goal of the year in the 37th minute to level the match at 1-1.

  • In the second half, Kleinpenning found the back of the net again in the 57th minute, this time assisted by Leho Le Louarn, giving YHC a 2-1 advantage.

  • Coker equalized in the 76th minute with Abalam's second goal of the night, assisted by Christian Johnson.

  • Both teams recorded seven total shots, with YHC placing three on target and Coker placing six.

  • Goalkeeper James Dee played all 90 minutes for the Mountain Lions, recording four saves.

  • Young Harris earned four corner kicks, all in the first half, while Coker earned two in the second.

  • The match saw four yellow cards issued and one red card to Coker.

  • Kleinpenning led the Mountain Lions with two goals on two shots, while Le Louarn added an assist and one shot on goal.

  • Ignacio Arribere and Alfredo Guerra each recorded a shot, while Bjarne Renner added another from midfield.
