2025 Varsity Football Season Preview: Union County Panthers

As the 2025 varsity football season approaches, the Union County Panthers from Blairsville, Georgia, are gearing up for a challenging campaign in the GHSA Class 2A. Following a 4-7 record in the 2024-25 season, the Panthers are looking to build on their experience and improve their standing in a competitive region. The season kicks off on August 7 with an away game against Alcovy at 7:30 PM, setting the tone for a demanding

schedule ahead.

The Panthers will face a mix of non-conference and region opponents, starting with a home matchup against Gilmer on August 22 at 7:30 PM. Early tests continue with an away game at Fannin County on August 29, followed by region play beginning September 5 against Murray County. Key home games include a clash with Rockmart on September 12 and Ringgold on October 3, both at 7:30 PM, offering fans a chance to see the team in action on their home turf.


The latter part of the season features critical region matchups, including away games at North Murray on September 19, Sonoraville on October 24, and North Cobb Christian on October 31, all scheduled for 7:30 PM. The Panthers will also host Coahulla Creek on October 17, another pivotal region contest. With a balanced schedule of home and away games, the team will need to leverage their home advantage and adapt to tough road environments.


After a 2024 season marked by a strong 2-3 home record but struggles on the road (2-4), the Panthers will look to refine their strategy under the guidance of their coaching staff. The team’s performance in the upcoming season will be crucial, especially with region rivals like Murray County, Rockmart, and North Cobb Christian on the slate.
