Blairsville Police Warn of Yet Another Phone Scam Involving Fake Warrant Claims

The Blairsville Police Department is warning residents about a phone scam in which callers falsely claim to be police officers and demand immediate payment for supposed outstanding warrants.

According to the department, scammers have been contacting individuals while posing as Blairsville police officers, telling them they have active warrants and must pay right away to avoid arrest. Police say the callers may pressure victims to act quickly and request personal or financial information.

Authorities emphasized that the Blairsville Police Department does not collect payments over the phone and will never demand money to clear a warrant.

Residents who receive such calls are advised to hang up immediately and not share any personal or financial details. Anyone who believes they may have been targeted by the scam or provided information to a caller is encouraged to contact the Blairsville Police Department directly.

Police also recommend reporting scam attempts to help investigators track and warn others about fraudulent activity in the area.
