Brasstown, NC — Construction on the new Brasstown Fire Station is nearing completion, marking a major step forward in fire protection and emergency services for the Cherokee County portion of the Brasstown Fire District.
The project represents a significant investment in community safety. Officials announced that, effective July 1 at 12:00 AM, Peachtree Fire & Rescue will officially assume fire protection responsibilities for the area.
“We are honored to continue the proud tradition of service to this community and are committed to providing the highest level of emergency response and fire protection possible,” the announcement stated.
Peachtree Fire & Rescue expressed sincere appreciation to Clay County Fire & Rescue for their many years of dedicated service to the Brasstown community. “Their commitment and professionalism have served the area well, and we thank them for their unwavering dedication,” the statement read.
The new station was made possible through a land-use partnership with the John C. Campbell Folk School. Officials extended gratitude to the Folk School for their support, noting that the agreement was instrumental in bringing the project to fruition.
In addition to enhanced response capabilities, residents in the Cherokee County portion of Brasstown are expected to benefit from an improved ISO Fire Protection Rating, moving from Class 6 to Class 5. This upgrade could lead to potential savings on homeowners insurance premiums while strengthening overall fire protection in the area.
The transition comes as crews prepare to open the new facility and begin serving the community from the modern station. Local leaders look forward to this new chapter in public safety for Brasstown.
Peachtree Fire & Rescue thanked residents for their support and reaffirmed their commitment to protecting lives and property for years to come.
This development is welcome news for families and property owners in the growing Brasstown area, which spans parts of both Clay and Cherokee counties in the North Georgia/Western North Carolina mountains. Further details on the station’s opening and any community events will be shared as the project finalizes.
