Brasstown Woman Arrested for Meth Possession After Dispute Over Retrieving Belongings

On 06/17/26 at 6:33 PM Clay County 911 Dispatch received a call reporting a breaking and entering in progress at 17 Snoozy Park Drive in Brasstown. Clay County Sgt Will Suggs and Officer Nate Rogers began an emergency response to this location. While enroute, the Officers downgraded their response after learning the call was a dispute over a prior occupant of a residence removing belongings that had been left there. Upon their arrival, Sgt Suggs and Officer Rogers found Karissa Shala Jones, 36 years of age from Brasstown, in the driveway with her belongings.

The owner of this residence was also present and complained that Jones was supposed to wait until he was present before she retrieved her belongings from the residence. While in the driveway, Jones became upset and said she was on probation, had an outstanding arrest warrant, and knew she would be going to jail.

Officer Roger confirmed that Jones was in fact wanted in Cherokee County, N.C. As Jones was being arrested, two pipes used to ingest illegal substances and a small baggy containing a white crystal-like substance were seized from her person. The white crystal-like substance field tested positive for methamphetamine. Jones was arrested for felony Possession of Methamphetamine and for the outstanding arrest warrant out of Cherokee County. Jones was issued a $20,000 secured bond for her release.
