The Union County College & Career Academy (UCCA) received a generous donation of siding and other building materials this week from Mitchell Ingram of Builders FirstSource, giving students in the high school’s Construction program valuable real-world resources for hands-on training.

Mitchell Ingram visited Union County High School to personally deliver the materials, which will be used by students enrolled in the Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) Construction pathway. The donation supports projects that allow students to practice industry-standard techniques in framing, siding installation, and other essential skills.

“Their continued support plays a vital role in helping our students gain the hands-on experience they need to be successful in the construction industry,” the school posted on social media following the visit.

UCCA officials emphasized that partnerships with local businesses are critical to the success of the school’s CTAE programs. These collaborations provide materials, guest speakers, job-shadowing opportunities, and pathways to employment after graduation.

“We are grateful for Builders FirstSource’s commitment and the opportunities they help create for Union County students,” the school added.

The Construction program at Union County High School is part of a broader effort to prepare students for high-demand trade careers without requiring a traditional four-year college degree. Donations like this one help keep the program’s lab stocked with up-to-date materials that mirror what students will encounter on professional job sites.

“Thank you, Builders FirstSource, for supporting the next generation of skilled builders!” the school concluded.

Builders FirstSource, a nationwide building materials supplier with a strong presence in North Georgia, has supported the Union County program for several years, reflecting the company’s investment in workforce development in the communities it serves.
