Clay County GOP to Host Chamber Executive Director Jim Rich at June Meeting

Hayesville, NC – Clay County GOP Chair June West has announced that Jim Rich, Executive Director of the Clay County Chamber of Commerce, will serve as the guest speaker for the group’s monthly meeting on Thursday, June 18th.

The meeting will take place at the Clay County Community Center, located at 25 Riverside Drive in Hayesville. Attendees are invited to enjoy light refreshments, snacks, and desserts beginning at 6:30 PM, with the formal business meeting starting at 7:00 PM. Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring a covered dish snack or dessert to share.

Jim Rich, a Michigan native, will share insights into the vital role of local business organizations in the community. After attending college in Florida, Rich remained there for 35 years, serving 32 years in the school district and retiring as a school Principal in the fall of 2021. He and his wife frequently vacationed in the North Georgia/Western North Carolina mountains before deciding to make the area their permanent home, drawn by the rural lifestyle, abundant outdoor activities, stunning scenery, and strong sense of community.

Since relocating, Rich has embraced a new chapter as Executive Director of the Clay County Chamber of Commerce, where he enjoys promoting local businesses and helping visitors discover attractions throughout Clay County and the surrounding area.

During his presentation, Rich will address the following topics:

  • What does the Chamber of Commerce do?

  • What does our Welcome Center do?

  • How do both entities fit into and support the broader community?
