Clay County GOP to Host July Meeting with Special Guest Speaker Merry Guy

HAYESVILLE, N.C. – The Clay County Republican Party will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the Clay County Community Center. The public is invited to attend.

Light refreshments, snacks, and desserts will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the second-floor meeting room, with the formal business meeting starting at 7:00 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring a covered dish snack or dessert to share.

The evening’s featured guest speaker is Merry Guy, Chair of the 11th Congressional District GOP. Guy, a longtime Western North Carolina resident, is a Conservative Christian, married for 45 years, and the mother of three adult children and grandmother of three. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry and enjoyed a 30-year career in research, marketing, and project management with Dupont, Sterling, and Agfa in the WNC region.

Guy previously served as Chair of the Henderson County GOP and has been active at the state level as a member of the North Carolina GOP State Central Committee, State Executive Committee, State Credentialing Committee, and State Election Integrity Committee. She currently serves on the State Plan of Organization Committee. She was elected Chair of the 11th District GOP in 2024.

During the July 16 meeting, Chair Guy will lead a discussion on the 11th District’s voter turnout strategy for the 2026 midterm elections, titled “Just 10 More Votes per Precinct.” GOP leadership has identified that securing an additional 10 votes per precinct in North Carolina’s 11th District could be decisive in carrying statewide and district-level races.

The presentation will outline practical steps that county-level GOP organizations and individual volunteers can take to help achieve this goal and protect Republican gains in the upcoming elections.
