Clay County Public Health Monitors WIC Amid Federal Shutdown

ree

Clay County Public Health, which administers the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) supplemental nutrition program, is working alongside state officials to monitor the potential local impact of the federal shutdown on these benefits.

The state WIC office has said that funding is available for now to maintain state and local WIC operations and services.

  • Our clinic is still open. WIC staff will continue to assist clients with the full range of services.

  • If WIC participants currently have benefits, they can continue using them at WIC-approved retailers. WIC benefit packages cannot be redeemed early. Participants can access their benefits on the EBT Edge app, which is available for Apple and Android devices.

  • Participants and community members who have questions about WIC or who need WIC services may call Clay County Public Health at (828) 389-8052 for more information.
