Clay County Road Closure: Old Hwy 64 West to Shut Down for 11 Days Starting May 26

HAYESVILLE, N.C. — Motorists should prepare for a significant road closure in Clay County beginning next week.

According to the Clay County Dispatch, Old Hwy 64 West will be closed daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. starting Tuesday, May 26, 2026, and continuing through Friday, June 5, 2026.

The closure will affect the section of Old Hwy 64 West from 5834 Old Hwy 64 West to the intersection with Beach Cove Rd.

Detour Information

Drivers needing to access Old Hwy 64 West beyond the closure point are advised to use one of the following detour routes:

• Carter Cove Rd to Beach Cove Rd

• Settawig Rd
